Visit to Whitehorse, Yukon, May 4-5, 2006
Marissa Maurer, Political Officer at the U.S. Consulate General in Vancouver visited Whitehorse, Yukon on May 4-5, 2006. While there, she had the opportunity to meet with a variety of leaders from the public and private sectors, including members of the Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce. She talked with tourism representatives and the press about new U.S. passport requirements, discussed cross-border environmental issues with government officials and the Council of Yukon First Nations, and learned about economic prospects in the territory, including new resource development initiatives, the upcoming Canada Games, and innovative programs to promote research and business investment. Consular officer Vincent Spera also traveled to Whitehorse, offering American citizen services to Americans resident in the area.
